MALAYSIA SABAH 4X84mw POWER PLANT EPC PROJECT AGREEMENT SUCCESSFULLY SIGNED
Feb 20, 2008 – Contract for the Malaysian Sabah 4×84mw power plant was officially executed in the capital, Kuala Lumpur.
Contract sum is 310 million US dollars.
Our company (China Power) president, Mr. Chou Loak Lim and president of TNB, Dato Sri Che Khalid, executed the contract on behalf of their companies respectively.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by both the China Ambassador to Malaysia and the TNB chairman, Tan Sri Leo Moggie.
In the press conference that followed, president, Mr. Chou and president, Dato Sri Che Khalid answered questions from the many reporters present.
The contract signing was covered by the media represented by The Malaysia Financial Daily, The Oriental Daily, The Nanyang and The China Press.
This Sabah Power Plant project is for the purpose of resolving the problem of power supply shortage. It is to be located in the vicinity of Lahad Datu.
Contract period is 38 months.
Terms and conditions is inclusive of design, material supply, construction, installation and commissioning of all EPC.
Since December 2005, our No.1 department, under top leadership, started to follow this project. Despite competing with 13 other companies, with careful and outstanding preparation with our joint venture partner, we won the contract and were notified of our success in September 2007.
Our president and vice president personally led our project team to have several meetings with the owner. A few days before the signing they have spontaneously and wisely resolved a few important and problematic conditions so that the contract could be signed on schedule.
This project is the first of its kind between Malaysia TNB and a Chinese Construction Company.
The successful bidding of this project greatly enhances the influence of China Power in Malaysia.
